These here are baju kurung sets. They come in two pieces, white top with sulam benang and manik and coloured bottom (same shade as the sulam). The material is chiffon and its easy to iron and no you do not need any linings for them.
The top (baju) measurements: Width 60", Length 1.6m
The bottom (kain) measurements: Width 60", Length 1.2m

Alhamdulillah, our viscose has been our most-sellable stock thus far. This is what we have left.. Come on! Get your hands on one now!!

All of the viscose in this album are of 50s quality thus the material is super soft and light. Viscose are easy to look after, easy to iron (sometimes you don't even have to iron them -> good for those oh-no-I-woke-up-late emergencies). They also have a nice drape to it.

I will start with our Japanese Cotton. As written in my last post, beginning this year, we will only sell cotton with 40s quality and above due to the finer texture of the material. All of the cotton in this post have 40s quality thus they are light and soft in texture.

Customer care message: Japanese cotton may shrink, this is the nature of the material. We at Ferntastic Fabric recommend that you soak the material in cold water and hang it to dry before sending it to your tailor.

Mari mengenali kualiti cotton

Assalamualaikum semua...

Pasti ramai yang tertanya-tanya macam mana nak bezakan kualiti kain cotton terutamanya apabila membeli cotton secara online. Kalau beli dekat physical shop (macam di Jakel, Gulati's, Nagoya, Kamdar etc etc) boleh gak kita rasa-rasa pegang-pegang kain tu kan? Tapi kalau beli online macam mana nak bezakan? Rata-rata pemilik online shops akan cuba bagi detail lengkap tentang setiap material yang mereka jual. Tapi macam mana kita nak bezakan yang mana high quality cotton dengan lower quality cotton? Hari ni, saya akan share cara ringkas untuk memilih cotton yang berkualiti yang bukan sahaja boleh anda guna untuk pembelian online, tapi boleh jugak belek2 kalau beli di Jakel segala tu..

Kebiasaannya, kilang-kilang yang menghasilkan kain akan meletakkan label di bawah kaki kain. Macam contoh dekat bawah ni.

Biasanya huruf "S" akan digunakan sebab inilah cara yang paling mudah untuk mengredkan kain. Tapi apa pulak maksudnya dengan 40s tu? Ianya merujuk kepada thread weight iaitu berat benang yang digunakan untuk menghasilkan kain tersebut. Saya rasa tak perlu kot pergi terlalu detail tentang weight of yarn per yard segala tapi cara mudah untuk memahami label tersebut ialah:
1) Lagi kecil angkanya (i.e 18s, 20s) lagi berat dan tebal sesuatu material itu. 20s biasanya digunakan dalam penghasilan t-shirt.. 30s untuk kemeja lelaki.
2) Lagi besar angkanya (i.e 40s, 60s) lagi ringan dan licin sesuatu material (pastinya harga juga berbeza). Cotton dengan kualiti 40s ke atas dianggap premium dan biasanya digunakan untuk baju wanita. Kainnya lebih halus.., cotton 60s sangat ringan tetapi bila dibuat menjadi baju, cantik jatuhnya..

Japanese, English, Swiss, Italian cotton lazimnya berbeza dari segi motifnya sahaja tapi satu ciri yang membezakan mana-mana kain adalah dari segi "S" nya. Viscose, cotton viscose juga mempunyai gred yang sama (i.e. menggunakan "S" untuk membezakan kualiti).

Mulai 2013, kami di Ferntastic Fabric akan hanya menjual fabrik dengan kualiti 40s dan ke atas untuk menjamin tahap kepuasan yang tinggi untuk para pelanggan kami..

Cotton Quality -- simplified edition

For those of you who are not sure of the quality of cotton that you would buy from places like Jakel, Gulatis and others here is a helpful hint that might put your mind at ease….

The most common way to define the quality is to touch and feel, basically tugging the material you are buying to check for inconsistencies. However there is another method that is absolutely foolproof. During manufacturing a label is printed on the edge of the cotton fabric (e.g: Japanese Cotton 40s). It could range from 18s to 60s. The "S" refers to the thread weight that is used to weave the material.

Cotton manufacturers have a basic rule; the higher the number the lighter the cotton. For example, 60s fabric will be a lot finer and have a softer and smoother texture compared with 15s or 20s fabrics. The general consensus is that 30s to 60s fabrics are considered to be of premium quality.

Japanese, English, Egyptian, Indian or Swiss cotton varies in pattern and design thus it is important to make sure that the S value is known. The same rule also applies to Viscose and other cotton fabrics.
